Your privacy is important to Mitsubishi Electric Asia Pte Ltd ("Mitsubishi Electric Asia"). This Policy serves as a notice to you as to how Mitsubishi Electric Asia collects, uses, discloses, transfers, processes, protects and retains your information. We also set out herein your rights with regards to the information that we process, and how you can contact us should you wish to exercise any such rights.

By using this Site or providing your personal data to us through available communication means, you consent to the terms of this Policy, particularly, to our, our affiliated companies' and third party service providers' collection, use, disclosure, transfer, processing, and retention of personal data for the purposes set out below.

Scope of Application

This Policy applies to Mitsubishi Electric Asia and the Mitsubishi Electric Asia Website (http://www.MitsubishiElectric.com.sg), and the e-mail, telephone and in-person communications between you and our employees and representatives, including those liaising with you via our Customer Care and Technical Centre and at our showrooms. This Policy does not apply to the links of other companies' or organisations' websites contained on our websites, or to their communications and handling of your information that you provide to them. Please note that they have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies or their collection, use, disclosure, transfer, processing, and retention of your personal data. You will need to make your own independent judgment regarding your interaction with them. 

This Policy shall similarly apply to all social media websites operated by Mitsubishi Electric Asia.

Personal Data

Personal data can be defined as any information, whether true or not, that may be used directly or indirectly to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address, a telephone number, an e-mail address, or other contact information.

Collection

Mitsubishi Electric Asia sometimes collects personal data from its customers while conducting business activities or providing requested services to its customers. On this Site, personal data is collected predominantly through the various contact/inquiry forms that are completed by this Site's visitors or customers.

You may be asked to provide your personal data anytime you are in contact with Mitsubishi Electric Asia or its affiliates, for example:

1. When you purchase and register for warranty, send for repair, or return one of Mitsubishi Electric Asia products, you may be asked to provide information such as name and contact details;
2.  When you contact Mitsubishi Electric Asia using contact form on this Sites, Mitsubishi Electric Asia may keep information such as name, email address, and other contact details. Mitsubishi Electric Asia may keep a record of your inquiry and our correspondence as well;
3. You may be asked to complete surveys that Mitsubishi Electric Asia use for research purposes, or provide your personal data when you participate in any contests, sweepstakes or other promotions organised by us. In such circumstances Mitsubishi Electric Asia may collect information such as name, date of birth, contact details and interests, as the case may be; and
4. When you create an account to use Mitsubishi Electric Asia online services, you may be asked to provide information such as name, date of birth, contact details, interests, and preferences on receiving marketing updates and offers from us.

In the event that you provide any third-person's personal data to us, you shall only do so after obtaining full authority from such third-person (including, without limitation, obtaining consent from such third-person for us to collect, use, disclose, transfer, process and retain their personal data) and ensuring that all information provided by you are accurate and complete.

Mitsubishi Electric Asia may collect your personal data from publicly available sources and third parties (including our affiliated companies), including the information about your purchase of Mitsubishi Electric Asia products from a retailer (whom you made the purchase from). Mitsubishi Electric Asia may also collect details of your visits to this Site and information collected through cookies and other tracking technologies including, but not limited to, your IP address and domain name, your browser version and operating system, traffic data, location data, web logs and other communication data, and the resources that you access. We may also collect operational data or data of technical nature from the products you purchase, which data may contain or otherwise link to information such as MAC address, IP address that could potentially, directly or indirectly, identify a person.

You are not required to provide the personal data that we have requested or you may at any time withdraw the consent that was originally rendered therefor, but, if you chose not to do so, in many cases we will not be able to provide you with our products or services or respond to any queries you may have.

Purpose

In this section, we set out the purposes for which we use and/or disclose personal data that we collect and in compliance with applicable laws (the "applicable laws" which, for the purpose of this Policy, include, without limitation, the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore, the Japan Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and the EU The General Data Protection Regulation, as well as, in each case, its respective rules, regulations and guidelines from time to time enacted, issued and updated):

1. To communicate effectively with you and conduct our business, including to respond to and confirm your inquiry or to carry out our obligations arising from any agreements entered into between you and us and may keep a record of the inquiry for the same purposes. 
2. To provide you with marketing updates and offers, where you have chosen to receive these. We may also use your information for marketing our own and our selected business partners' products and services to you by post, email, SMS, phone, and fax and, where required by law, we will ask for your consent at the time we collect your data to conduct any of these types of marketing. We will provide an option to unsubscribe or opt-out of further communication on any electronic marketing communication sent to you.
3. For research and development purposes. To support our customer relationship, we may store and process personal data and share it with our worldwide subsidiaries and affiliates and analyse your personal data to better understand your needs and how we can improve our products and services.
4. To monitor queries and transactions to ensure service quality, compliance with procedures and to combat fraud.
5. To notify you about changes to our services and products.
6. To ensure that content from this Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device, which may include passing your data to business partners, suppliers, and/or service providers.
7. To reorganise or make changes to our business. In the event that we: (i) are subject to negotiations for the sale of our business or part thereof to a third party; (ii) are sold to a third party; or (iii) undergo a re-organisation, we may need to transfer some or all of your personal data to the relevant third party (or its advisors) as part of any due diligence process for the purpose of analysing any proposed sale or re-organisation. We may also need to transfer your personal data to that re-organised entity or third party after the sale or reorganisation for them to use for the same purposes as set out in this policy.

We may process your personal data to comply with our regulatory requirements or dialogue with regulators as applicable which may include disclosing your personal data to third parties, the court service and/or regulators or law enforcement agencies in connection with enquiries, proceedings, or investigations by such parties anywhere in the world or where compelled to do so. Where permitted, we will direct any such request to you or notify you before responding unless to do so would prejudice the prevention or detection of a crime.

Mitsubishi Electric Asia does not use or disclose information gathered from individual visits to the Site or information that you may give us to any third parties for intention to sell, rent or otherwise market your personal data. At times Mitsubishi Electric Asia may conduct online surveys to better understand the needs and profile of our visitors. When we conduct a survey, we will do our utmost to let you know how we will use the information collected from you. This Site may provide contests, sweepstakes or other promotions that may ask you to enter your personal data. We will use the information you provide for the purpose of conducting the promotion, like providing customer support or contacting you if you are a winner.

Disclosure

Mitsubishi Electric Asia or its affiliates may share your personal data with one another and use it consistent with this Policy and the applicable laws. They may also combine it with other information to provide and improve our products, services, content, and advertising.

We may at times share personal data with third party service providers who perform or assist us with, for example, information processing, managing, and enhancing customer data, providing customer service including delivery and repair, assessing your interest in our products and services, organising contests, sweepstakes, or other promotions, and conducting customer research or satisfaction surveys. These third party service providers are obliged to protect your information and may be located wherever we operate.

It may be necessary by law, legal proceeding and/or requests from government authorities or regulators within or outside your country of residence, for us to disclose your personal data. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or in the interest of the public, disclosure is necessary or appropriate.

We may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or other users.

Additionally, in the event of a merger, reorganisation, or sale we may transfer any and all personal data we collect to the relevant third party.

Transmission, Storage and Security 

No data transmission over the internet or website can be guaranteed to be secure from intrusion. However, Mitsubishi Electric Asia maintain commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal data in accordance with data protection legislative requirements. 

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers located in Singapore, on cloud servers maintained by our service providers, and accessed and used subject to our security policies and standards. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of this Site or any of our services, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential and for complying with any other security procedures that we notify you of. You are asked not to share this password with anyone.

Your personal data may, in connection with the purposes set out herein, be accessed by staff of our affiliates or suppliers or service providers in, transferred to, and/or stored at, a destination outside Singapore, whose data protection laws may be of a lower standard than those in Singapore. We will, in all circumstances, safeguard personal data as set out in this Privacy Policy and take steps to establish appropriate information security and data protection requirements with such recipients in order to ensure that the standard of protection where your personal data is transferred is comparable to the protection under the applicable regulations of Singapore.

Retention

We will retain your personal data for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Policy unless a longer retention period is required for legal or business purposes. For example, we may retain certain transaction details and correspondence until the time limit for claims arising from the transaction has expired, or to comply with regulatory requirements regarding the retention of such data. When personal data is no longer needed, we either irreversibly anonymise the data (and we may further retain and use the anonymised information) or securely destroy the data.

Access and Correction

We will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that your personal data is accurate and complete. You may contact us to request access or to correct your personal data. We may decline to process requests for which access is not required by local laws.

Under certain conditions, you may have the right to require us to:

1. provide you with further details on the use we make of your information;
2. provide you with a copy of information that you have provided to us;
3. update any inaccuracies in the personal data we hold;
4. where processing is based on consent, to withdraw your consent so that we stop that particular processing.

Your exercise of these rights is subject to certain exemptions to safeguard the public interest (e.g., the prevention or detection of crime) and our interests (e.g., the maintenance of legal privilege) or otherwise set out under the applicable laws. If you are not satisfied with our use of your personal data or our response to any exercise of these rights, you have the right to complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore. 

Children

Children without the consent of their parent or guardian should not submit personal data to us via this Site or other means. While few, if any, of the materials of the Sites are directed towards children, Mitsubishi Electric Asia encourages all parents or guardians to instruct their children in the safe and responsible use of their personal data while using the Internet.
