From Sustainability to Education: The Car Boot for Good Kids Edition Brings Fun with Meaningful Purpose
On 31 August 2024, the Mitsubishi Electric Building was abuzz with excitement as the Car Boot for Good made its return for the second time. The event transformed into a dynamic marketplace with a total of 42 car and table booths and drawing a remarkable turnout of 600 attendees, all united in support of sustainability through shopping for secondhand goods like books, toys, clothes, household items and more.
Building on last year’s success, this year’s event introduced a fresh, new twist—the Kids Edition. This special edition is aimed not only to highlight the eco-friendly “preloved to reloved” initiative but also to provide kids with an opportunity to take on the role of sellers. This experience allowed them to explore the basics of running a business and develop a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Attendees also enjoyed a variety of other exciting activities: the Stamp Rally Adventure, which had them collecting stamps to win exclusive Mitsubishi Electric merchandises, the old-school carnival games that resonated with attendees of all ages with their nostalgic charm, and the arts and crafts workshops that allowed kids to explore their creative talents in painting, shrink art keychain and fan painting, henna art, and quilling art. The delicious snacks and complimentary food from Old Chang Kee were also a hit, along with the sure-win lucky draw that made sure every participant went home with a memorable keepsake.
In addition to focusing on the pillars of sustainability and education, the Car Boot for Good Kids Edition highlighted the importance of making a positive impact on the community. Attendees were able to engage with the social enterprises and charitable organisations that set up their booths at the event, such as Wunder Bakes, Olive Tree, Apex Day Rehabilitation Centre for the Elderly, Handmade Fashion Rumah, and Lujean Bakes.

Seamlessly merging fun and learning with environmental stewardship, the Car Boot for Good Kids Edition is a stark embodiment of Mitsubishi Electric Asia’s commitment to creating positive impacts that contribute to the shaping of a caring society and the realisation of a better tomorrow.
