Eco-Products International Fair (EPIF), the largest Environmental Fair and Conference in Asia, was held in Manila in the SMX Convention Center on 19 to 22 March 2009. This was the fifth successive international fair organized by Asian Productivity Organization (APO).
Aligned to Environmental Vision 2021 Emblem, Mitsubishi Electric showcased its advanced environmental technologies. Key features were products including Solar Photovoltaic modules, MoveEye air conditioner, high speed hand dryer and recycling technology.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo also toured the exhibition hall together with Chairman of the Board for Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Chairperson for GP Advisory Committee (Japan), Dr. Tamotsu Nomakuchi. Other dignitaries that visited included Former President Fidel V. Ramos and Former First Lady Amelita M. Ramos.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Tamotsu Nomakuchi delivered his opening speech and commented that environmental issues particularly climate change should be addressed despite the current economic challenges. He commended on Mitsubishi Electric's high regards towards developing innovative technologies which boost energy efficiency, and environmental friendly products. In closing, he mentioned that EPIF is a valuable platform for corporations to discuss on environmental issues and expressed his optimism that more people will become conscious in environment protection.
