The Role
As an integral member of the Asia Corporate Office Legal Department based in Singapore, you will provide legal advisory and compliance support to Mitsubishi Electric group companies across 12 Asia Pacific countries, namely Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The role is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous enhancement of regional legal and compliance frameworks, partnering closely with management, compliance officers and business stakeholders to effectively manage legal and compliance risks.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Implement group legal and compliance policies and facilitate their localization and adoption by group companies across the Asia Pacific region.
- Continuously review, develop and enhance legal and compliance policies, processes and initiatives to effectively manage emerging risks impacting the Group's businesses.
- Support and strengthen compliance programs by partnering closely with compliance officers, senior management and key stakeholders within group companies.
- Provide legal advice and practical support to group companies on a broad range of legal and compliance matters.
- Act as an Ethical and Legal Compliance Auditor on behalf of Headquarters and support regional compliance monitoring and assessment activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Legal and Audit teams, as well as external legal counsel and professional service providers, to address legal and compliance issues effectively.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across diverse business units and countries, balancing varying business needs while promoting a robust compliance culture.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of corporate legal and compliance frameworks and experience supporting regional businesses.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide practical and business-oriented advice.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.
Your Profile
- Bachelor Degree in Law or a related discipline.
- At least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in legal, compliance or corporate advisory functions, preferably within a multinational environment.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across different jurisdictions, cultures and business functions.
- A proactive team player with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities and a pleasant personality.
- Willingness to travel overseas, primarily to APAC region
- Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia (spoken and written) is required to support stakeholders in Indonesia.
